The Australian media has claimed that New South Wales bowler Doug Bollinger is set to be placed on standby for the Perth Test to cover for any possible injuries in the Australian pace attack.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Bollinger, who is on duty for NSW in the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Hobart, has made a tremendous impression after an off-season in which he followed a strict training and eating regimen.

He has bowled superbly and his devastating form has caught the attention of national selectors, the report said.

Bollinger has openly admitted he wanted to prove himself after being dispatched from Test cricket when he was dismissed as unfit after he finished the Adelaide Test during the 2010-11 Ashes series with an unflattering 1-130 from 29 overs, the report added.
