Jamaican sprinting champion Usain Bolt has reportedly won 100m on his return to the Olympic Stadium for the Anniversary Games, going a step ahead on his vow to restore faith in the sport for his country, which has been tarnished by doping charges against major athletes.

According to BBC, Bolt paid his own homage to last year's Olympics by clinching the blue riband event in 9.85 seconds a year after the 2012 London Olympics, and ran nine hundredths of a second quicker than he had previously done this year.

The report further said that although the six-time Olympic champion had a lacklustre start, he soon overpowered his rivals in the closing stages to dip across the line three hundredths of a second ahead of America's Michael Rodgers, who came in second.

Happy to receive the adulation from 60,000 fans, Bolt, who will look to regain the world title in Moscow next month, said that it was a wonderful experience to compete in London in 2012 and an even greater experience to be back again.

However, the world record holder admitted that he needs to work hard ahead of the World Championships, saying that he needs to work on his poor start so that he can make a perfect race in his next event and continue to do well in the future.

According to the report, the stadium was hosting an evening of athletics for the first time since last summer, when the likes of Bolt, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill whipped the crowd into a frenzy during an unforgettable Olympic Games.

The report further said that the thousands of fans at the Olympic Stadium seemed to put aside their doubts over the credibility of sprinting following the positive tests of Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay and Sherone Simpson two weeks ago as they reveled in watching Bolt excel on the field.

Jamaica's Nesta Carter was third in 9.99 while Dwain Chambers, the only Briton remaining in the race following Dasaolu's withdrawal, was fifth in 10.10, the report added.
