A bomb blast occurred outside the residence of an MLA here on Wednesday.
The attack took place early this morning, damaging the gate of the residence of N. Loken Singh, a legislator representing the Nambol Assembly in the state.
However, no casualty was reported.
Singh is also a former Social Welfare Minister. His brother N. Dijen Singh confirmed the incident and said the reason behind it could be political rivalry.
"At around 4.40 a.m., there was a blast and later when we checked, we go to know that it was on our gate, it was early morning and we couldn't find anyone. There is no casualty, only the gate is damaged," said N. Dijen Singh.

The blast took place at a time when the security has been on high alert in the province ahead of the ensuing Republic Day on January 26.
The bomb was said to be country made as it was filled with ball splinters and damaged some parts of the gates with the ball pallets.
Reportedly, when the bomb attack took place, the security personnel were in their respective bunkers and could not see anyone planting the bomb at the gate early morning.
N. Loken Singh has been a target by militant groups for long as he has been attacked seven times earlier, amongst which six times he was attacked at his permanent residence in Nambol in Bishnupur district in Manipur.
