The Bombay High Court has sought a report from the Maharashtra government on steps taken by the latter to contain swine flu in the state.
According to reports, a division bench headed by Justice Mohit Shah heard a PIL, seeking directions from the state government to take adequate preventive measures against the spread of the disease.
The petition further calls for the state to set up a number of laboratories for testing H1N1 samples, alleging that the current number is only one, and wants the government to ensure adequate supply of medicines to all hospitals.
As per reports, the Bombay HC has directed the state government to file the affidavit within four weeks.
Swine flu has claimed a reported 221 lives in Maharashtra in 2015 alone.
