The Bombay High Court, on Friday stayed the excavation work near the heritage JN Petit Institute building in south Mumbai.
The tunneling near the heritage was being done in connection with Mumbai Metro III project.
According to reports, the High Court has stayed the excavation for two weeks till a fresh structural survey is completed.
The High Court has also set a three member panel to assess the damage being caused to the heritage building.
According to reports, the stay comes after the concern that the tunnel work was damaging the foundations of several heritage and iconic buildings in the area, which includes the 119-year-old JN Petit Institute.
