Bond between India, Bangladesh 'deep rooted' says Pranab Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday said that the bond between India and Bangladesh were 'deep rooted', and added that the two countries have a common history, heritage and culture.

President Mukherjee, who was called-on by a 100- member youth delegation from Bangladesh here at Rashtrapati Bhavan, expressed his delight to meet the members, and said that he has a deep personal attachment with the neighbouring country.

Addressing the young members of the delegation, he said that the youth, are the future of a nation.

"They can decide the future course of action they want, whether it should be conflict or conciliation, destruction or development," he said.

 

President Mukherjee appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Bangladesh and High Commission of India in Dhaka for their efforts in organising the visit of the delegation.

He also conveyed his best regards to the people of Bangladesh with the message 'we are with you.'

The High Commission of India in Dhaka in co-ordination with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Government of Bangladesh has organized this visit of the second youth delegation to India and arranged for them to tour to academic, tourist and cultural sites.

The first youth delegation from Bangladesh had visited India from October 6 to October 13 last year.
