With the second royal baby's arrival, bookies have started betting on names for the new princess, and Charlotte has emerged as the favorite.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's newly born could be named in the next 24 hours, however, the surge could leave the industry facing a seven-figure payout to customers, the Mirror reported.
The name surged into first place in late bets and leveled with Alice, which was the previous favorite, at the same odds with Coral. Olivia, Victoria and Elizabeth are also there as some popular names for the tot.
Ladbrokes said that even if one of the names from the favorites is chosen, in addition to many people winning by betting on a princess rather than a price, "the payout for the betting industry will be bumped up to a million pounds".
Charlotte has a long royal history, as not only it is the feminine of Charles, the name of her grandfather the Prince of Wales, it was also the name of George III's queen, a character which played by Helen Mirren in 'The Madness Of King George.'
Bookies have estimated they already face a payout of more than 500,000 pounds after heavy backing for a female royal.
