A new study has revealed that adaptation mechanisms of the brain while recognizing faces are similar when perceiving alphabets.
Dr. Gyula Kovacs, from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, said that faces are of tremendous importance for human beings, which is why in the course of the evolution, our visual perception has specialized in the recognition of faces in particular.
According to the study, these distinct adaptations are because of the neuronal plasticity of the brain, which allows us to adapt to environmental stimuli.
The study found that the brain activity adapts to the visual perception of characters in the course of the measurements and the reading and writing experience of a person is responsible for this adaptation.
The study was published in The Journal of Neuroscience.
