Brazilian physio gets club thrown out of league with 'goal-blocking' antics

The Brazilian physiotherapist who had stepped on the field to block two probable winning shots from his team's opponents, was reportedly responsible for getting his club thrown of their league following his antics.

Ramildo Fonseca was also suspended for 24 matches and fined 157 pounds by the same tribunal who threw out Brazilian club Aparecidense from Serie D for his never-before-seen antics during the club's Serie D last-16 play-off with rival side Tupi earlier this month.

According to Metro.co.uk, Fonseca entered the field from behind the goal and blocked two shots, which would have been a certain winner for his side's opponents.

The report said that due to Fonseca's actions, Aparecidense won the tie on away goals and had advanced to the competition's quarter-finals, although his actions enraged the Tupi players, who chased him from the field and made him seek police protection.

However, the report mentioned that ruling ensured that Tupi entered the next round.

Following his bizarre intervention, Fonseca claimed that he had received death threats and feared for his family's safety.
