Australian pace legend Brett Lee has warned that if curators around the country produce the same flat pitches that characterised the summer in Australia, the Cricket World Cup could suffer.
Lee claimed that the World Cup suffering is the last thing Australia wants. He said that he wants the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) to be flying through and wants the SCG to have a bit of grass. He also insisted that he wants the Gabba to seam around, adding that they should have the wickets that everyone expects to play on when they come to Australia.
Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Steve Smith said that the excessively flat Sydney Cricket Ground and Melbourne Cricket Ground pitches made it hard for bowlers during the recent test series against India, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Smith said that it has been tough to get 20 wickets in this series.
Lee, who was speaking at the launch of the International Cricket Council's Cricket World Cup video game on Friday, also revealed that he is going to coach Ireland.
He said that if they have a strong World Cup it is going to be better for the crowd, adding that this is an opportunity for him to pass on the tips and tricks that bowlers like Allan Donald, Courtney Walsh and Dennis Lillee passed on to him.
