Redcliffe's newest tourist attraction Bee Gees Way has been nominated in the VirtualTourist.com competition to fight for the world's eighth wonder position.
It joins other nominees for the honour, like Uluru at the Top End, Victoria's 12 Apostles, Dominica's Boiling Lake and the ubiquitous Hollywood Sign of Los Angeles.
The seven new wonders of the world are: Petra Jordan, Roman Colosseum, Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, Christ the Redeemer, Taj Mahal, and Chichen Itza.
According to the Courier Mail, Moreton Bay Regional Council mayor Allan Sutherland said Bee Gees Way's nomination in the 8th Wonder of the World competition provided further promotional opportunities for the attraction and the region.
Bee Gees Fan Club of Australia president Steph Hagger said she was unsure who nominated Bee Gees Way, but had asked members of the club to vote.
Voting for the nominated eighth wonder will close on September 30 and VirtualTourist.com spokesperson Kimberly Stirdivant Wason said the winner would receive huge tourism benefits from the competition, the report added.
