A British man claims he's set a new record of driving a jet engine-propelled shopping trolley on the Santa Pod race track.
Matt McKeown says he reached a speed of 70.8 kilometres per hour last Saturday, beating the existing record of 42mph.
The 52-year-old is planning to approach Guinness World Records to ratify his next attempt, Stuff.co.nz reported.
McKeown's trolley is powered by a jet engine from a Chinook helicopter and he told ITV News this week that he believed he could eventually top 110kmh, but he doesn't want to go any faster.
McKeown joked that his next attempt could be with a full trolley to let the shopping 'fly everywhere for visual effect'.
