The British media has said that golf's world number one Tiger Woods is 'worth every penny' of the whopping 1.5 million pounds fee that he will receive for playing in the Turkish Airlines Open this week.

Turkish Airlines, aiming to raise their country's profile as a golfing destination, identified the 14-time Major winner as the man they needed to put a new tournament on the map and they have done that by putting Woods on their promotional posters.

According to the Daily Express, even with the controversy of being accused as a 'cheat' by a golf analyst, who later issued an apology, Woods will prove value for the vast outlay from Turkish Airlines as the sponsors have been able to build an entire global amateur tournament- the World Golf Cup - around the chance to play with him in the pro-am.

The report mentioned that Woods' name comes with a 'cast-iron' guarantee that says that even though he might not win the event, he will give his complete effort to make a success of it as it is a part of his make-up, adding that there is no chance of Woods ever giving up even if the event does not go his way.

While there is no cut in Turkey, with its 78-man field, it is still reassuring to the organisers to know they can rely on complete commitment from their star attraction, the report further said.
