The British High Commission helped British Airways celebrate the first scheduled flight of its new 787-9 Dreamliner, which arrived at IGI Airport here today.
Speaking ahead of a reception held to celebrate the Dreamliner's arrival, Indian Director, UK Trade and Investment, St.John Gould said, "I am delighted that British Airways chose Delhi as the maiden destination for its stunning new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner."
"Tourism and trade between the UK and India booming, and the UK hosts a huge and vibrant Indian diaspora, so no wonder India is British Airways' second largest market outside the UK. We're confident that traffic between our two great nations will continue to expand at a rate of knots," added John Gould.
The dummy check of the 787-9 Dreamliner will involve clients and customers including some business leaders and Bollywood personalities. The stub of the boarding pass will be retained for a prize draw where one lucky guest will win two BA business class return tickets from Delhi to London.
The Boeing 787-9 boasts a unique first class cabin housing eight seats, compared to the usual 14 extra storage space and a single dial to control seat recline. It also features a larger screen that will enable one to enjoy the latest films and TV programmes.
