Two British cyclists have set off yesterday for a 3,000 mile journey across the Sahara Desert to hand over a 1.89 pound bottle of water.

Ahmed Mashadani and Andreas Aristidou, business students at the University of Nottingham, have undertaken this journey, which is expected to take ten weeks.

According to The Mirror, Mashadani said that nearly a billion people have no access to clean water and they wanted to do their bit by delivering some of the clean water to the driest places on earth.

Wendy Chapel, Mashadani's tutor, said that it is a huge challenge and the students want to raise awareness about the issue and are determined to do something about it, the report added.
