England paceman Stuart Broad has been cleared of a foot fracture and is expected to bat in the third Ashes Test against Australia at the WACA Ground, according to reports.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Broad was sent off for scans after being struck on his right foot by a fearsome Mitchell Johnson delivery on Sunday.

Initial X-rays were inconclusive, but an MRI scan cleared Broad of any fracture to his metatarsal, the report said.

Broad has been England's best bowler this series with 14 wickets at 25.21, the report added.

In his absence, England struggled to make inroads into Australia's batting line-up, with the hosts finishing day three at 3-235, the report further said.

Broad's fitness will be monitored over the coming days before a decision is made on his availability for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, the report mentioned.
