Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on the sidelines of the 12th ASEAN-India Summit here on Wednesday, received praise from the latter for India's 'Act East policy'.
"We welcome India's continued support. We welcome the Act East policy," PMO's twitter handle quoted the Sultan of Brunei as telling Prime Minister Modi during the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi described India's relationship with Brunei as very close.
"Your Majesty, this is the first time I am meeting you. Relations between India and Brunei are very close," PMO's twitter handle quoted Prime Minister Modi as saying.
The Sultan of Brunei also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit his country. The Prime Minister thanked him for the invitation.
Earlier in his opening statement at the India-ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Modi said that India's 'Look East Policy' has become 'Act East Policy'.

The Prime Minister earlier in the day held meetings with his counterparts from Malaysia and Thailand.
Prime Minister Modi will call on Burmese opposition politician and chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi later in the day.
