A friendly football match between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) was organized in Tripura's Belonia as a part of confidence building measures between the two border guarding forces.
The match was played at the KBI mini stadium between the 89th battalion of BSF and the 4th battalion of BGB. The BSF's team was led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) B.S. Tolia while the BGB team was led by Commandant Zilul Haque.
The BGB men gave BSF a tough fight but lost the match by one goal, scored by BSF during the second half. Close to 3,000 locals witnessed the match between the two forces.
"We have come here to watch the match between Bangladesh and India. The match is still going on and we are enjoying it. We hope such matches will help in improving our future relations," said Sabita Saha, a local villager.
Meanwhile, Anamul, a BGB player, said that such matches improve the relations between the two forces.
"We have come here to play the friendly match and very pleased with the arrangements and the friendly bordering population. We hope to play more such matches and improve brotherly relations between us," Anamul said.
