Border Security Force(BSF) Commandant Deepak K Mondal, who went into coma after being attacked by suspected cattle smugglers succumbed to his injuries in Kolkata on Friday.
The deceased officer was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata with critical head and back injuries on Monday, October 16.
The second-in-command rank officer was on duty along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura when a four-wheeled vehicle of suspected smugglers hit him from behind.
