The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday gunned down a Pakistani smuggler and recovered 10 kilogram of heroin from his possession in Punjab's Ferozepur sector.

The troopers of 105 Battalion BSF held the smuggler in a joint anti-smuggling operation with Punjab police's special task force (STF).

The team also recovered one China-made pistol, two magazines, 17 live cartridges, Pakistan currency, two mobile phones with SIM card and a plastic pipe of 10 feet.

In the intervening night of February 19 and 20, based on tip-off, an ambush was placed in the area of Border Out Post Barreke along the border security fence to nab smugglers.

The ambush located two Pakistani smugglers approaching to Border security Fence after crossing IB into Indian Territory.

The troopers opened fire in which one smuggler was killed while the other managed to flee back towards Pakistan territory.
