The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday confirmed that it had lodged a protest with the Pakistan rangers at a sector commander-level meeting over repeated ceasefire violations on the border separating the two countries.

"We have lodged the protest and all those protests are giving to them on which they have violated the understanding which was established during the DG-level talks," said Inspector General of Border Security Force, (Jammu Frontier) Rakesh Kumar told reporters.

"In the meetings they appear to be very positive... It appears that now they will follow the norms," he added.

"We have told them that we have zero tolerance towards sniping, zero tolerance of infiltration and zero tolerance of cross border firing on the international border, and especially targeting the civilian population...Talks do bring results and I am hopeful that these talks will also produce results," he further said.

Ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which have now become almost a routine affair had stopped following Director General-level talks between the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers in Delhi on September 12.
