Prince William is set to host the first-ever football match at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the FA's 150th birthday, it has been revealed.
One of the Queen's back lawns will be turned into a pitch where the Southern Amateur League's Poly-technic FC will play Civil Service FC, the only surviving club of 11 who formed the FA in 1863, the Mirror reported.
William, who dreamed up the idea in his role as Association President, said that it is hugely important for the FA to honour the efforts of the many thousands of volunteers.
