Two persons were killed after a portion of an under-construction building collapsed here on Saturday.

Rescue workers, however, saved seven other persons trapped in the debris.

The building collapsed between 2.30 a.m. and 3.00 a.m.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Singh said: "There is a possibility that there might be at least 10 to 12 people inside the building out of which two people have died and seven have been rescued. The rescue operations are on."

An irate resident of Jaipur, Nizam, said that all the prior complaints related to the building owner had fallen on deaf ears.

The authorities have ordered for a probe into the matter.

Many Indian buildings do not conform to safety regulations, with owners constructing extra floors or structures without approval from the concerned authorities and beyond the sanctioned floor space index (FSI) or floor area ratio (FAR).
