Asserting that the BJP-led NDA is a government of selected industrialists, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said the ruling dispensation at the Centre is least concerned about the farmers, who are facing difficulties.

"Farmers of the entire nation are in difficulty but this government belongs to two or three big businessmen. The states are getting the special package but here the famers are not helped," said Gandhi after meeting the farmers associated with National Saffron Mission.

The Congress vice-president, who is presently on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, also attempted to strike an emotional chord with the people of the state.

"I get both feelings of being happy and sad every time I visit the state, happy because I come to my home and sad because the people here have been facing a lot of problems," he said.

Assuring the Congress' support to the farmers, Gandhi said: "We have given you 411 crores after you told us about your problems but we haven't given you only the money, we have given you a support from our hearts because we wanted the saffron farmers to be strengthened."

"We want more saffron to be produced here so that the world comes to know about the taste of Kashmiri saffron," he added.
