England vice-captain Jos Buttler has expressed that he wants to follow in the footsteps of role-model AB de Villiers so as to guide his side to become one of the dominant teams in the world.

The wicketkeeper batsman smacked a magnificent 129 off 77 balls as he steered his side to a record 210 win over New Zealand on Tuesday.

England registered their highest ever ODI total as they posted a daunting target of 409 after being put in to bat first, thanks to stellar knocks by Root (104) and Buttler.

Buttler said that De Villiers is someone who has been a role-model for him for a long period of time, pointing to his swashbuckling style of batting, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The right-hander said that he wants to emulate the South African batsman's style in English cricket as he wants to be the guy who can go out like he did at Edgbaston and play aggressive cricket on a consistent basis.
