McLaren driver Jenson Button has tagged the uncertainty over his future at his current team that has been their all season as a joke.

Button has reportedly been waiting all season to learn if McLaren would extend his five-year tenure and the company is still undecided despite just three races left in the championship.

The 2009 world champion, an impressive fourth in Russia on Sunday, said that the situation used to annoy him but now it just makes him laugh, The Mirror reported.

Instead of ensuring Button's extended stay with them, McLaren have reportedly been flirting with disruptive Spaniard Fernando Alonso.

Button said that he had been annoyed at the last race with the delay, but added that he is more relaxed with it now. He said that it is getting so close to the end of the season, it is actually getting funny.

Button also said that he has gone past getting increasingly frustrated. He added that he is just enjoying racing and it was nice that the car worked last weekend and good that the team were getting everything out of it.

Button said that when one comes away from a weekend like that, one just enjoys the moment, adding that they don't think about external issues. He said that it is obviously it is getting closer to a decision being made because it has to be made at some point before next year.

But, Hamilton added that he is not worried or scared whatever direction he goes in the future. He said that he is not doing this for any reason to stay in Formula One.

Button said that he is doing it for himself, and is not thinking if he does a good job he would get a driver here.
