The 2009 world champion Jenson Button has said that he wants his Formula1 future with McLaren to be discussed over the next few weeks.

McLaren's racing director Eric Boullier said that team is aiming to keep faith in Button for the next season, the Guardian reported.

The F1 team has an option to retain Button for 2016 season, who finished 14th in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, but his contract with the McLaren will expire this month.

Kevin Magnussen and Stoffel Vandoorne could be his possible replacement if Button is not retained.

Earlier, the 35-year-old had also been linked to rejoin Williams, where Button had began his Grand Prix career.

But William's deputy team principal Claire Williams denied the rumours, saying that they were never in talks with Button for 2016 tie-ups and added that they were looking forward to retain Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas for a third successive campaign.
