Cabinet expands women welfare schemes, introduces 'Mahila Shakti Kendra'

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday gave its approval for the expansion of schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the umbrella scheme "Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women" for a period 2017-18 to 2019-20.

The CCEA has also given approval to the new scheme called 'Mahila Shakti Kendra', which will empower rural women through community participation to create an environment in which they realise their full potential.

"The CCEA approves expansion of umbrella scheme "Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women" and introduction of a new scheme 'Mahila Shakti Kendra'," Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, while addressing a press briefing here.

 

The expansion of the campaign 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' has also been approved based on the successful implementation in 161 districts.
