The British Ministry of Defense is planning on providing land to help relieve traffic problems in Kent caused by the migrant crisis in Calais.

The potential location under discussions included the disused Manston Airport, in Kent.

The plans are in 'early stages' with thousands of lorries still queuing on the M20 due to the disruptions at the Channel Tunnel, the BBC reported.

The backlog has grown as migrants made fresh attempts to enter the tunnel on the fourth night in a row in Calais.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who is slated to chair an emergency Cobra committee meeting, will consider how some 6,000 lorries stacked on the M20 could be moved on to other sites.

Cameron had earlier said the United Kingdom would not become a 'safe haven' for migrants unless the current crisis at Calais is addressed to immediately.

Keith Vaz, Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, has however said that the issue was 'an European Union problem' and would only be resolved by a face-to-face meeting between Prime Minister Cameron and French President Francois Hollande.
