Calangute police arrests man for attacking another with cleaver

The Goa police has arrested a man for grievously hurting a 29-year-old man with a cleaver.

The accused, a native of Jharkhand, works in a hotel in Calangute.

The blood-stained meat chopper was recovered by the police, and the accused was taken into custody on Sunday.

As per Police Inspector (PI) Calangute Police Station Jivba Dalvi, the complainant, Sajid Kader Faqir, had borrowed a mobile phone from the accused, over which the two persons engaged in a quarrel on Saturday.

According to the police, the argument took a turn for the worse when the accused, in a sudden fit of rage, picked up the meat chopper and attacked the victim. Faqir subsequently suffered injuries on his head and other body parts.

 

Police said that the complainant was shifted to Goa Medical College, Bambolim where a detailed complaint was recorded and an FIR under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or other means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered. IPC

Further investigation in the case is underway.
