Cameron Diaz has joined the cast of the remake of acclaimed musical film, 'Annie'.
A representative of Columbia Pictures confirmed that the 40-year-old actress would be playing the role of orphanage headmistress, 'Miss Hannigan', the New York Daily News reported.
Sandra Bullock was believed to be the first choice for the role but she reportedly turned down the offer in mid-June.
Other stars that have signed on for the film include Jamie Foxx as Daddy Warbucks and the 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis, who will play the iconic Annie.
The 'Miss Hanigan' part was famously played by Carol Burnett in the 1982 classic
Jay-Z and Will Smith are the mastermind producers of the remake.
The movie is expected to hit the theatres on Christmas, next year.
