Campa Cola residents are still defiant as the threat of their homes being razed to the ground stands eminent. The residents had yesterday thwarted attempts by Municipality officials to demolish their houses and cut off the power and water supply.

Dr Srinivasan, a resident of Campa Cola who works with Hinduja hospital, said, "We are happy that police did not force on us.All the parties are supporting us. We are law abiding citizens and we hope that police will not do anything wrong with us. Prithviraj Chavan has promised us lot of times but never fulfilled the promises."

G R Khairnari, former deputy commissioner of BMC, also said, "I am not in favor of demolishing. Today if Municipal Corporation demolishes everything keeping aside the law then a big loss will happen. Innocent common people are living here. I do not understand why the authorities are so desperate in taking actions."

The BMC was supposed to begin the building's demolition on Friday, by disconnecting power, water and gas supplies to all illegal flats. It had earlier given a May 2 deadline to the residents but the Residents had then stood their ground and did not move out.
