The Canadian High Commission has condemned the terror strike in the temple town of Bodh Gaya, and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
"Canada is shocked at this wanton act of terrorist violence against one of Buddhism's most important sites. Assaulting a place of pilgrimage, reflection and peace has a particularly evil dimension and cannot be tolerated," said Andrew Bennett, Canada's Ambassador for Religious Freedom, and Jim Nickel, Acting High Commissioner for Canada to India, in a statement issued today.
"We wish a speedy recovery to those injured in Sunday's attack and call for those responsible to be brought to justice," the statement adds.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun probing the serial blasts, which rocked the temple town of Bodh Gaya on Sunday. Two monks were injured in the nine low intensity blasts.
Security agencies suspect that Indian Mujahideen may be behind the multiple blasts. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blasts.
The Home Ministry has directed all states to ensure foolproof security at Buddhist shrines and Tibetan settlements.
