ANI Ottawa

A day after train explosions in Quebec destroyed at least 30 buildings, 50 to 80 people have been reported as missing with the confirmation of one death and more expected later.

According to The Globe and Mail, survivors of the incident have called themselves extremely lucky and said life or death depended on where they happened to be standing.

The report said that those who were on the scene when the immense fireball turned buildings into piles of ash have no doubt that the death toll would be much bigger.

Meanwhile, fire chief Denis Lauzon said that nearly two square kilometers of the downtown were razed.

Provincial police Lt. Michel Brunet revealed that his investigators were trying to track down family members of the deceased person and many people were reported missing.
