A Canadian woman was recently taken into custody in Colombia after she allegedly tried to smuggle cocaine in a fake baby bump.
Tabitha Leah Ritchie was caught in the act when an anti-drugs inspector asked how long she had been pregnant, while she was preparing to board a flight from the capital Bogota to Toronto, Sky News reported.
When Ritchie replied saying 7 months, the inspector touched Ritchie's belly, during a frisking at El Dorado international airport, and found that it was cold and hard.
Colonel Esteban Arias Melo revealed that the cops discovered a false belly made of latex taped to Ritchie's body as well as 2kg of cocaine inside.
Melo added that the 28-year-old Ritchie, who could face up to eight years in prison for drug trafficking if found guilty, tried to fool public security forces by faking a pregnancy.
