Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday promised to end the party workers' intimidation by Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

Addressing a series of public meetings at various places in Ajnala and Raja Sansi assembly segments, Capt Amarinder said law had already started catching up with Bikram Singh Majithia as he had been named in the charge-sheet in the case related to the drug lord Jagdish Bhola.

The Congress leader said these elections will mark the beginning of the end of the Akali's misrule. He said Bikram Majithia will have no option but to run away as people will hold him accountable for all his sins.

He also lashed out at the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for what he called ' the wanton loot of the state resources". He pointed out how Badal's had amassed so much wealth while whole Punjab had gone bankrupt.

Capt Amarinder said the Badals had let down all sections of society whether they are farmers, traders, industrialists, employees, students or anyone else. He said not a single section of people was happy with the government.

He pointed out that employees had not been getting their salaries while pensioners had to wait for their pension for three months and more.

Among others present on the occasion included Harpartap Ajnala, Sukh Sarkaria and Gurjeet Aujla.
