The Delhi Police on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a high profile car thief while he was delivering a stolen BMW at a five-star hotel in the city.
The thief identified as Rahul was arrested after the Delhi Police's Anti-Author Theft Squad (AATS) laid a trap to get hold of him.
Rahul, who is said to be a resident of Haryana's Hisar district, has at least 30 cases of car theft registered against him.
The police claims to have arrested him on 28 previous occasions.
West Delhi DCP Pushpendra Kumar said that Rahul used a unique modus operandi to carry out his car robberies successfully.
"He led a lavish lifestyle, had good looks and wore expensive clothes to avoid suspicion by anyone. He usually carried out his car thefts during the early morning hours. Sometime, he even used to take the keys from the guard," he added.
