England batsman Michael Carberry and seam bowler Tim Bresnan have been recalled to the squads for the Twenty20 and five-match one-day series against Sri Lanka, beginning on May 20.

Carberry, who criticised his omission from the ODI series in Australia last winter, is back after being overlooked for the limited-overs series in the West Indies this year while Bresnan is available again after recently returning from a back injury.

According to the BBC, national selector James Whitaker said that the 'miscommunication' between Carberry and England's management in Australia has been 'resolved', adding that they feel Carberry deserves his chance if selected in the final XI due to his record over the last couple or three years of domestic limited-overs cricket.

Meanwhile, Carberry said that he is pleased to return to the squad and does not regret going public with his criticism of former England limited-overs coach Ashley Giles as he was just 'expressing his opinion' like he was 'entitled to'.

The report mentioned that the squad announcement is the second under coach Peter Moores, whose first match ended with victory over Scotland in a 50-over game shortened to 20 overs because of bad weather.

England plays Sri Lanka in a T20 game on 20 May before a five-match ODI series, the report added.
