Rio Olympic champion Carolina Marin of Spain turned out to be the costliest buy in the Premier Badminton League (PBL) as she was bagged by Hyderabad Hunters for a hefty amount of Rs. 61 lakh and five thousands.
In the auctions for the second edition of the badminton league held today in the national capital, South Korean woman shuttler Sung Ji Hyun, who was bagged by Mumbai Rockets for Rs. 60 lakh, was the second costliest buy.
Denmark shuttler Jan 'O' Jorgensen proved to be the third costliest after he was bought for Rs. 59 lakhs.
Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, despite being the best Indian iconic player after her performance at the Rio Games, went to Chennai Smashers for Rs. 39 lakhs, which was way below expectations.
Her compatriot Saina Nehwal went to Awadhe Warriors for Rs. 33 lakhs. Denmark's Viktor Axelsen, the Olympic bronze medallist, too got a price of Rs. 39 lakhs landing up with Bengaluru Blasters, as did Wan Ho Son who was clinched by Delhi.
