The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested an Inspector of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a complainant, who is a street hawker.
A case was registered following the complaint's statement that the inspector, posted at Connaught Place in New Delhi, was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from him for allowing him to carry on his business in the area.
CBI laid a trap and caught the inspector red-handed demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant.
Searches at the official premises of the accused are being conducted.
The accused will be produced on Saturday before the designated court at Patiala House in Delhi.
