Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's approval of bail in a disproportionate asset case is proof of the theory that the ruling Congress Party and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) work together as political 'allies'.
"The Congress has not been able to even retain its allies....The CBI is the only ally left with the Congress. Through the CBI, they will get certain people into trouble and free some people who are in trouble-in accordance with their own convenience. ...But how long with this last?" Naqvi said.
YSR Congress chief Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy was granted bail on Monday-16 months after he was arrested.
Reddy, who was arrested on 27th May, 2012 by the CBI on corruption charges, was under judicial remand and lodged at the Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad.
The CBI has accused Reddy of getting huge investments from various individuals and firms into his businesses as quid pro quo for the favours granted by the Andhra Pradesh Government that was headed by his father and former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy before his death in a helicopter crash in September 2009.
