The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out search operations in Tripura against West Bengal-based Rose Valley Group.

"A team from Calcutta led by L.K. Shalu is conducting raids to collect the evidence. It's a central team of CBI and till now there has been no arrest," said Rajendra Datta, DSP of Tripura Police.

The central team has raided various Rose Valley offices in the state and the houses of a few officials and agents.

The raid is part of the search operation going on simultaneously at 43 locations in the country in the alleged chit-fund scam.

According to sources, of the 43 locations where the searches are being conducted, seven are in Tripura while 27 are in West Bengal, and one each in Odisha, Assam, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu.

Rose Valley is one of the alleged deposit-taking companies whose names have featured in the list of ponzi firms prepared by the Corporate Ministry.

Probing illicit fund raising by the Kolkata-based companies, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has discovered that group companies of Rose Valley and Saradha have raised amounts worth around Rs. 12,740 crore in the name of various ponzi firms from the market.

According to an estimate, Rose Valley had raised more than Rs 15,000 crores from investors which is six times that of Saradha.

Sources said the CBI may also raid the residence and office of few elected public representatives and media personnel of Tripura.
