Security expert Alok Bansal on Wednesday stated that Border Security Force's (BSF) retaliatory firing which has claimed several lives on the other side of the border has made Pakistan desperate.
"Pakistan's attempt to open a new front across the International Border was primarily meant for two reasons. First was they felt since the BSF was deployed there they will be an easy prey, where they could target them easily without any worthwhile retaliation," Bansal told ANI.
"Second was that bulk of the population along this International Border is Hindu majority which they perceive as being loyal to India and which cannot be instigated by their propaganda. As a result this firing and this arena of exchange of fire shifted from Line of Control (LoC) to International Border (IB) because in the Line of Control Indian Army was giving them a befitting reply," he added.
"However, it seems that BSF has also given them a befitting reply and this sort of firing which Pakistan is indulging in shows their level of desperation, because there have been, according to certain reports, heavy casualties on the Pakistani side that has actually created panic within the ranks of Pakistani security forces," he further added.
Thousands of people living on the International Border are now forced to migrate to safer places as the Pakistan rangers again resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing on the BSF posts last night.
According to BSF, over 50 BSF posts and nearly 30 border villages were affected by the fire from Pakistan side that restarted at 8.30 pm last night that injured at least sixteen persons, including four Army personnel and a BSF jawan.
Meanwhile, India has decided to put on hold the proposal for a flag meeting at the commander-level along the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
