After James Horner's death in a plane crash was confirmed, celebrities, friends and fans paid their condolences to the 'Titanic' composer.

Sylvia Patrycja, his personal assistant, had confirmed Horner's death on Facebook, saying that they lost and amazing person with a huge heart, and unbelievable talent, but he died doing what he loved. She also expressed her gratitude for all the support.

Michael Gorfaine and Sam Schwartz of the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency had released a statement which read: "It is with the deepest regret and sorrow that we mourn the tragic passing of our dear colleague, long-time client and great friend, composer James Horner. An avid and experienced pilot, James was flying a single-engine aircraft that crashed in a remote area of northern Ventura County, California. He was 61 years old."

They extended their love and support with the Oscar winner's wife Sara and his two daughters, Emily and Becky, reported E! Online.

Meanwhile, 'My Heart Will Go On' singer Celion Dion also paid tribute on her official website, writing she was deeply saddened by the tragic incident, and though he'll be missed, he would remain a great composer in people's hearts.

Eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken too shared that Horner was "among the very best film composers of our generation, whose work was stirring, emotionally powerful and broadly evocative."

He would always cherish the memory of him and his wonderful work, he added.

On Monday, a single-engine plane registered to Horner had crashed in Southern California Monday, killing the pilot, who was the only one present in the machine. As per the reports, the victim's body had been burned beyond recognition.

During his lifetime, Horner had received eight Academy Award nominations, including seven for the scores of 'Aliens,' 'Field of Dreams,' 'Apollo 13,' 'Braveheart,' 'A Beautiful Mind,' 'House of Sand and Fog' and 'Avatar.
