To control the damage she made with her statement on #OscarsSoWhite movement, Academy award-nominated actress Charlotte Rampling said that her comments were misinterpreted.
The 69-year-old British star, nominated this year for her leading role in '45 Years,' told in an interview that she regrets that her "comments could have been misinterpreted," reports New York Daily News.
Adding on to that, Rampling said that she meant to say that in an ideal world, every performance will be given equal opportunities for consideration.
Rampling received backlash following her French radio interview on January 22, wherein she said that all the talk of an Oscars whitewash is actually anti-white.
"It is racist to whites," Rampling told during the interview. "One can never really know, but perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list.
