Premier League stars Chelsea have held their Spanish counterparts Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw after their Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday at the Vicente Calderon.

Australian player Mark Schwarzer, who is 41, replaced regular goalkeeper Petr Cech when he injured his right elbow in the 15th minute, to make only his second Champions League appearance and become the oldest player to feature in the knockout phase.

According to Sport24, Atletico, through to the last four of Europe's elite club competition for the first time in 40 years, dominated the 2012 winners but were unable to carve out an advantage ahead of next week's return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's result means that Jose Mourinho's side will be slight favourites to advance to next month's final in Lisbon, the report mentioned.
