Chelsea veteran forward Didier Drogba has dismissed rumours surrounding his retirement, confirming that he will not retire at the end of the season.

The Ivory Coast international, whose current contract expires at the season end, returned to Stamford Bridge last year following his two-year stint abroad.

Drogba, who scored 157 goals in his eight-year stint with Chelsea, confirmed that he had decided on his future and it was not going to be his last season, Sport24 reported.

Earlier this month, team manager Jose Mourinho had said that they had a lot of talks to do, adding that there are people who, during their careers, earn the right and the power to make decisions and not wait for others to make decisions for them.

According to Mourinho, Drogba's contribution to the club for so many years puts him in a great position.

Drogba has only started four games in the league's ongoing season, with the latest being in the 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers after injuries to Diego Costa and Loic Remy.
