India Meteorological Department Director B.P. Yadav on Friday said that Chennai is not likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours.
"Chennai has not got any heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours, though light rainfall is continuing. Chennai received one centimetre rainfall over 24 hours. Heavy rainfall zone has been confined to Cuddalore, Puducherry and Nagapattinam," Yadav said.
"We are expecting a bit increase in rainfall over Chennai after 48 hours, but there won't be heavy rainfall," he added.

The flood situation in Chennai and its suburbs is improving as rain has taken a break since last two days except for the isolated showers.
However, as the problem of water logging persists, the rescue teams are reaching out to the marooned areas including those that were not so far not reached.

Road connectivity within Chennai is improving with the resumption of transport in a segment of the arterial Saidapet bridge that was inaccessible earlier.
Civilian flights are to be operated from the naval airfield at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, 90 kilometers west of Chennai.
