China has warned a group of British Members of Parliament against making a planned trip to Hong Kong.
Sir Richard Ottoway, who chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee, said that he had been warned that if he and his fellow MPs attempted to travel to Hong Kong, they will not be allowed to enter, reported the BBC.
His committee is examining relations between the United Kingdom and its erstwhile colony, where demonstrators have been protesting against Beijing's tightening control over the region.
Activists have been occupying streets and holding demonstrations to oppose Beijing's decision to vet candidates in 2017 elections.
Ottoway accused the Chinese authorities of acting in an "overtly confrontational manner.
