While the Japanese media is abuzz with speculations that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are working on a plan to strengthen the bilateral ties and hedge against the growing power of China, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has responded with a "cool" attitude.
Speaking at a news conference in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said that China has taken notice of it but emphasized that both China and India advocate and follow the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and practise independent foreign affairs policies.
